Reverse description A standing female allegory of Italia, depicted in classical drapery, rides a quadriga in dynamic motion, holding a shield in her left hand and an olive branch in her right. The prancing horses are rendered with vigorous detail, and the date 1914 appears below the hooves in the lower field. In the exergue, the word PROVA identifies the piece as a pattern issue, flanked by the author's and engraver's names; the denomination L. 2 is displayed centrally, flanked by decorative Savoy knots, with the Rome mint mark at left and the Star of Italy at right.
