Beschrijving voorzijde The coat of arms of San Marino occupies the central field, depicting the three towers of Monte Titano — Guaita, Cesta, and Montale — each surmounted by a torch flame, set upon a rocky outcrop with a sprig of oak and laurel at the base. Above the towers, a mural crown is prominently displayed. The circular legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO runs along the upper periphery, while the word LIBERTAS appears in the lower exergue.

Aanvullende informatie

San Marino's 1986 coinage program was part of the republic's annual collector-focused series, each year assigned a distinct theme — 1986 being dedicated to the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl and broader concerns about technology and science. The 2 Lire denomination was effectively ceremonial by this point; Italian lira inflation had rendered it worthless in daily commerce, so the entire issue was minted for sets rather than circulation.

Aluminium 2 Lire pieces from San Marino during this decade were produced in relatively modest quantities compared to Italian state issues, and surviving examples outside original packaging show handling marks disproportionate to their negligible circulation history.
