Obverse description Central field displays the crowned coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece, consisting of a quartered shield bearing a cross, surmounted by a large royal crown. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ (Kingdom of Greece) arcs around the periphery. The design is executed in a neoclassical style consistent with the Bavarian engravers employed during the reign of King Otto.
