Obverse description The full coat of arms of the Republic of Latvia occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a rising sun in the upper half and three lions passant in the lower quarters, supported by a rampant lion to the left and a griffin to the right. An arc of three five-pointed stars appears above the shield, representing the three historical regions of Latvia. A wreath of oak leaves tied at the base encircles the lower portion of the arms. The legend LATVIJAS arcs across the upper field and REPUBLIKA across the lower field, both in upright Latin lettering. The coin is bordered by a fine dentilated rim.
