| Vorderseitenbeschreibung | Right-facing portrait vignette of Georgian composer Zakaria Paliashvili against a guilloche underprint, with a musical score excerpt from his opera "Abesalom and Eteri" occupying the central field. The borjghali (traditional Georgian sun symbol) appears at left, while the denomination numeral and value inscription are positioned at right. Two facsimile signatures — those of the Minister of Finance and the President of the National Bank — appear in the lower portion, with alphanumeric serial numbers at upper right and lower left carrying a mandatory "A" prefix. |

| Rückseitenbeschreibung | Central intaglio-printed vignette of the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theatre building, founded in 1887, rendered in fine architectural detail against a warm ochre and pale guilloche background. The denomination numeral "2" is printed in large format at upper right, with Georgian script and the Latin legend "GEORGIA TWO LARI" running vertically along the left margin. A borjghali-style ornamental device appears at lower left, and the Georgian inscription with the founding year 1887 runs beneath the building vignette. |

| Anmerkungen |
Georgia's second series of lari notes, introduced from 1999 onward, was printed by Giesecke & Devrient in Leipzig — a politically neutral choice for a country still managing the institutional awkwardness of printing its currency abroad after Soviet dissolution. The 2 lari denomination was the lowest paper value to survive into the 2002 revision cycle; by that point the 1 lari had already migrated to coin.
The security specification for this issue is notably lean — watermark and thread only, without the optical variable ink or microprinting that G&D was already applying to higher-denomination Georgian notes of the same period.
