The dates '930 -' and '1930' are inscribed in the field to the left and right respectively, commemorating the millennium of the Althing. The engraver's initials 'B.B.' appear in the lower exergue. The composition is executed in a refined Neo-Classical style with high sculptural relief. |

| Opis rewersu | The reverse displays a circular shield or boss design divided into four quadrants by radiating ribs emanating from a central raised dome, with a ring of decorative pellets surrounding the boss. Each quadrant contains a distinct Norse mythological creature rendered in interlaced Romanesque style: an eagle (upper left), a winged serpentine dragon (upper right), a bull or ox (lower left), and an armed Viking warrior in motion carrying a spear and shield (lower right). The initials 'T.M.' appear in the lower right quadrant. A runic inscription in the Elder Futhark runs continuously around the entire outer border of the design. |
