Obverse description Central field displays a crowned imperial eagle or heraldic shield of the Counts of Solms-Lich, rendered in the crude hammered style typical of late sixteenth-century German small coinage. A beaded inner circle encloses the central device, with the legend MONO. ARG. CO. SOL. LICH disposed around the circumference, denoting the silver monetary issue of the County of Solms-Lich. The lettering is in Roman capitals separated by stops, showing typical late Renaissance engraving conventions for minor German territorial coinage.
