Additional information

Paris von Lodron governed Salzburg for over three decades, a tenure defined largely by his success in keeping the archbishopric out of the Thirty Years' War — a calculated neutrality that preserved both the city and its treasury while much of the Holy Roman Empire was being systematically destroyed. That political survival allowed continuous minting through the 1620s and 1630s when many neighboring authorities were debasing coinage or halting production entirely.

The Zöttl range spanning thirteen catalog numbers across this single type reflects meaningful die variation within the issue, not mere cataloging convention.
