Obverse description Central field bears the ornately shaped lozenge-patterned shield of the Wittelsbach dynasty arms, displaying the characteristic diagonal fusils (lozenges) of Bavaria in alternating bands. The shield is rendered in relief within a plain circular border. A continuous Latin legend encircles the shield in the outer ring, reading the abbreviated titles of Elector Maximilian III Joseph.

Reverse description Central device consists of an imperial orb surmounted by a cross, the orb divided by a horizontal band bearing the numeral 'Z' (Zwei, denoting the denomination of 2 Kreuzer). The legend 'SOLI DEO GLORIA' (Glory to God Alone) encircles the orb, with the mint year appearing in the lower margin below the orb. The design is simple and well-centered within a plain border.
