Obverse description The obverse features the archiepiscopal arms of Salzburg within an ornate baroque shield, quartered with the arms of the see (bendy of six) and the personal arms of Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg. The shield is surmounted by a pontifical hat (galero) with tassels and flanked by a crosier and processional cross. The circular Latin legend reads MAX GAND D G ARCHIEPS, identifying the issuing archbishop by abbreviated title.
