| 背面描述 | Denomination II KREUTZER inscribed in three lines within a plain inner circle, flanked by small rosette stops. The surrounding outer legend, separated by the inner circle border, bears the imperial titles of Ferdinand II in Latin — FERD·II·ROM·IMP·S·AV — running continuously around the circumference. The overall design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century south German hammered coinage. |

Leopold Wilhelm held the Bishopric of Strasbourg from 1625 largely as a political appointment — he was eleven years old at the time of his election, the younger brother of Emperor Ferdinand II, and never ordained a priest. The diocese was effectively administered by others throughout his tenure. His coinage, including this issue, was produced during the early and most destructive phase of the Thirty Years' War, when Alsace was repeatedly crossed by armies and local monetary production was as much a statement of territorial authority as a practical necessity.
Leopold Wilhelm later accumulated an extraordinary roster of ecclesiastical titles across the Habsburg lands before pivoting to a military career as Imperial field commander.
