Obverse description Coat of arms of Lower Alsace displayed within a beaded inner circle, consisting of a diagonal bend sinister charged with fleurs-de-lis, set against a hatched field. The shield is ornamented with decorative flourishes at the corners. The circumferential legend reads MON:NOVA:EP:ARGEN: in Latin characters, separated by rosette or cross stops, running along the outer border.

Reverse description Denomination II KREUTZER inscribed in three lines within a plain inner circle, flanked by small rosette stops. The surrounding outer legend, separated by the inner circle border, bears the imperial titles of Ferdinand II in Latin — FERD·II·ROM·IMP·S·AV — running continuously around the circumference. The overall design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century south German hammered coinage.
