| Beschrijving keerzijde | A crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread, dominates the field. An orb on the eagle's breast bears the numeral 'Z' (denoting the 2 Kreuzer denomination). The Habsburg imperial crown surmounts the eagle's two heads. A circular Latin legend around the periphery carries the titles of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II, enclosed within a beaded border. |

Ellwangen's Prince-Provostry was an ecclesiastical territory in Swabia whose ruling provosts held the rank of imperial princes — a peculiar arrangement that gave a monastic foundation the full minting rights of a secular principality. John Jakob Blarer of Wartensee, who governed Ellwangen from 1603 until his death in 1630, issued these small silver pieces during the opening years of the Thirty Years' War, when coinage across the Empire was being systematically debased under the so-called Kipper- und Wipperzeit. The multiple Mayer and Ebner varieties suggest several die pairings across the three-year window.
