Reverse description Central field features the orb of the Holy Roman Empire — a globus cruciger divided by horizontal bands — surmounted by a cross pattée, all set within a beaded inner circle. The date, rendered in abbreviated form (e.g. 89, 90, 91, etc., representing the last two digits of the regnal year), appears to the left of the orb. A Latin circumferential legend naming the co-ruling counts runs along the outer border, partially legible on this worn specimen.

Additional information

Waldeck's joint coinage under Francis, William Ernest, Christian, and Volrad reflects the county's practice of collective rule among male heirs — a dynastic arrangement that kept the territory from fragmenting while producing issues authorized under all living counts simultaneously. The four names on a coin weighing barely a gram is less a design choice than a legal formality of Westphalian inheritance custom.
