Additional information

Château-Regnault was a tiny principality on the Meuse in the Ardennes, whose minting rights depended entirely on the tolerance of the French crown — a tolerance that ran out in 1614 when Louis XIII's regency government suppressed the mint. Francis of Bourbon-Conti and his wife Louise-Marguerite of Lorraine held the title only briefly, and the billon issues struck under their joint authority represent the last coinage the principality would ever produce.
