Charles II ruled Inner Austria — Styria, Carinthia, and Carniola — as a separate Habsburg appanage following the 1564 partition among Ferdinand I's sons. His Graz mint was active throughout his reign producing small silver for regional circulation, but his territories were perpetually cash-strained by the cost of maintaining the Military Frontier against Ottoman incursion. The 2 Kreuzer denomination was workhorse coinage, spent fast and saved rarely.
Survivors in any condition above heavily worn are uncommon. The Graz mint's output for this denomination in the 1570s was never large, and border warfare ensured most pieces circulated to obliteration.
