| 表面の説明 | Central oval shield bearing two crossed keys, the traditional arms of the Free City of Regensburg, rendered in relief against a stippled field. The shield is surmounted by a decorative foliate crest. The circumferential Latin legend REGENSPURGER STADT MUNTZ, followed by the date 1754, runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The coin exhibits a finely milled edge with reeded denticles visible along the rim. |

Regensburg's status as a Free Imperial City gave it the right to strike its own coinage, a privilege jealously maintained through the eighteenth century even as smaller imperial entities lost theirs. By 1754 the city was host to the Immerwährender Reichstag — the perpetually sitting Imperial Diet — which had met there without recess since 1663, making Regensburg simultaneously one of the most politically significant and administratively sclerotic cities in the empire. Local coinage circulated alongside the flood of currency brought in by diplomats, functionaries, and their retinues from across the German lands.
