Regensburg's status as the permanent seat of the Reichstag from 1663 onward — the so-called Immerwährender Reichstag — meant the city hosted a continuous diplomatic assembly for over a century, drawing delegates, staff, and merchants whose small daily transactions sustained demand for exactly this denomination.
