Obverse description Uncrowned right-facing bust of Emperor Alexander I in military uniform with epaulettes and decorative aiguillettes, engraved in high relief in the neoclassical style by Karl Leberecht. The emperor's hair is styled in loose curls characteristic of the early 19th-century fashion. The circular Cyrillic legend surrounding the bust reads: Б.М. АЛЕКСАНДРЪ I. ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕР. ВСЕРОСС., denoting his imperial title by the grace of God. The engraver's signature is visible at the base of the truncation. The flat field is polished, lending the piece a proof-like appearance consistent with its pattern status.
