| Beschrijving keerzijde | Saint Rupert, patron saint of Salzburg, is depicted seated in three-quarter view facing left upon a low throne or stool, attired in full episcopal vestments including a mitre and cope. In his left hand he holds a salt box or vessel, the traditional attribute referencing Salzburg's salt trade, while his right hand grasps a crozier. A nimbus or halo frames his head. The figure is rendered with fine engraving detail in the high Renaissance tradition, and is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The Latin legend surrounding the design reads SANCTVS RVDBERTVS EPS SALZBVR, identifying the saint and his see. |
