| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborate quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg within an ornate cartouche: the upper half bearing a rampant lion passant to sinister (arms of Salzburg), the lower half featuring the Hohenems family emblem of a chamois. The shield is surmounted by the archiepiscopal galero with tassels and a processional cross, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle and a rope-bordered outer ring conforming to the square klippe flan. The circumferential Latin legend reads: MARCVS SITTICVS D G AREPS SAL AP SE L, identifying Marcus Sitticus by the grace of God as Archbishop of Salzburg, Apostolic Legate. |
