| Opis rewersu | Central field contains a three-line Arabic inscription identifying the Bey, the mint city of Tunis, and the Islamic date AH 1272, all enclosed within a wreath of stylized oak and olive branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The date appears in Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals at the foot of the inscription. The wreath framing is boldly rendered and consistent with Tunisian coinage of the mid-nineteenth century Husainid Bey period. |

The countermark on this piece reflects a recurring Ottoman administrative headache: vast quantities of earlier Tunisian copper circulated alongside newer issues of inconsistent weight and purity, and periodic revalidation campaigns were the Porte's preferred tool for asserting monetary control over the Regency without a full recoinage. KM#116.1 specifically carries the thin-legend variety distinction, separating it from the heavier-legend dies used concurrently at the Tunis mint.
