| Reverse description | Central field contains a three-line Arabic inscription identifying the Bey, the mint city of Tunis, and the Islamic date AH 1272, all enclosed within a wreath of stylized oak and olive branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The date appears in Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals at the foot of the inscription. The wreath framing is boldly rendered and consistent with Tunisian coinage of the mid-nineteenth century Husainid Bey period. |
