| Reverse description | The central device depicts a Shivalinga rising from a pitha (base), rendered in a stylised form reminiscent of a fire altar or flame, occupying the centre of the oval field. A series of small dots or pellets encircle the Shivalinga, forming a decorative border around the central emblem. Peripheral Tamil or Grantha script characters appear around the rim, consistent with the epigraphic style of Sivaganga princely coinage. The entire design is executed in low relief on a roughly finished flan, characteristic of hand-struck South Indian copper issues of the 18th century. |
