Kwangsi (Guangxi) maintained its own provincial mint well into the Republic period, issuing silver fractional coinage during a stretch of near-constant military instability in the southwest. The province changed hands repeatedly between warlord factions throughout 1919–1920, which likely disrupted production runs and accounts for the relatively modest surviving populations of this type compared to the larger Guangdong issues that dominated regional commerce.
