Founded in 1907 in Lviv, the Ukrainian Medical Society was one of the few professional organizations that maintained continuous institutional identity through the Soviet period, albeit under severe restriction. This 2010 issue marks the society's centenary of organized Ukrainian medical practice as a distinct professional body — a milestone the Soviet state had spent decades trying to erase from the record.
