Issued to mark the 200th anniversary of Lviv Trade and Economic University, one of the oldest economics-focused institutions in Ukraine, originally founded in 1816 under Austrian rule when Lviv was still Lemberg. The university survived Habsburg administration, two world wars, Soviet rebranding, and post-independence restructuring — a curriculum continuity that most European institutions of comparable age cannot claim.
Part of Ukraine's long-running commemorative circulation series, these bimetallic-style pieces were struck in modest quantities and saw little actual commerce despite their face value status.
