Obverse description The obverse features an ornate wreath-like border composed of naturalistically rendered flora and fauna elements, including oak branches with acorns at upper right, berry-laden branches with a perched bird at upper left, thistles and other botanical motifs at lower left, and flowers with a snail at lower right. At the centre top, the Ukrainian state coat of arms — the trident (tryzub) on a shield — is displayed in high relief. Below the arms, the country name УКРАЇНА is inscribed in Cyrillic, followed by the large numeral '2' and the denomination ГРИВНІ, with the date 2001 at the lower centre. The mint mark appears at the very bottom of the field.
