| Obverse description | The obverse presents a dynamic, modernist composition evoking the economic and mathematical disciplines. To the upper right, a stylised globe rendered in a grid of meridians and parallels occupies the field, beneath which the denomination numeral '2' and the legend 'ГРИВНІ' appear in the lower field. The small trident emblem of Ukraine (tryzub) is depicted in a shield at the upper centre of the design. Mathematical and economic symbols — including an integral sign, percentage sign, at-symbol, and other notations — are scattered across the left portion of the field against an abstract geometric background of intersecting diagonal lines. Issued to mark the 100th anniversary of Kyiv National University of Economics, founded in 1906 as the Kyiv Commercial Institute — one of the first dedicated business schools in the Russian Empire. The institution survived Bolshevik reorganization in the 1920s, when it was folded into broader Soviet economic education structures before re-emerging as an independent university following Ukrainian independence in 1991.
