| Description de l’avers | The obverse features the small arms of Ukraine — the trident (tризуб) within a shield — prominently displayed at the top center of the field. Flanking the central legends, an ornate wreath of naturalistic flora frames the design: grapevine with clusters of berries and a perched songbird to the left, and oak branches with acorns and a butterfly to the right. Additional flora including mushrooms, flowers, and a small snail appear in the lower portion of the wreath. The Cyrillic legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine) arcs across the upper field, with the denomination numeral 2 and the word ГРИВНІ below it, and the date 2000 in the lower exergue. The mint mark of the Kyiv Banknote Printing and Minting Works appears at the bottom center. |

| Description du revers | The reverse depicts a highly detailed relief of a freshwater crab (Potamon tauricum) positioned prominently in the center of the field, surrounded by aquatic vegetation including seaweed fronds and a snail shell. A circular Cyrillic legend ПРІСНОВОДНИЙ КРАБ arcs around the upper portion of the design, while the Latin scientific name POTAMON TAURICUM is inscribed along the lower arc, together framing the central naturalistic composition. The rendering of the crab and its habitat is executed in fine relief, characteristic of the Ukrainian fauna commemorative series. |
