| Additional information |
Part of Ukraine's long-running "Birds of Ukraine" series, this issue highlights native fauna through the State Mint's sterling silver commemorative program — a series that has run across multiple decades and grown to encompass dozens of species. Ukraine's commemorative coinage program expanded aggressively after 1996 independence, using collector issues partly as a foreign currency earner and partly as a vehicle for national cultural identity in the post-Soviet period.
The Zahreba catalog reference places this firmly within the established Ukrainian commemorative classification system developed by collector Vasyl Zahreba.
