Obverse description Elaborate interlaced royal cypher of Landgrave Frederick II of Hesse-Cassel, formed by two intertwined script letters beneath an ornate electoral crown with arched points and jewels. The monogram occupies the full field of the coin, rendered in a bold baroque calligraphic style with foliate flourishes and scroll terminals. No legend surrounds the device. The coin's milled edge is visible at the coin's periphery.
