| Obverse description | Draped bust of Archbishop Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg facing left, wearing a biretta; the Roman numeral date M.D.XXXVIII appears below the effigy. Two small armorial shields flank the bust within the legend, dividing the encircling Latin inscription. The portrait is rendered in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of large Austrian ecclesiastical coinage of the early sixteenth century. |
