| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Grand Duke Leopold I of Baden, rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical style characteristic of mid-19th century German state coinage, engraved by Carl Friedrich Voigt. The circular legend reads LEOPOLD GROSHERZOG VON BADEN, disposed around the periphery. The field is smooth and unadorned, with a fine toothed border running along the coin's rim. |

| Reverse description | The arms of the Grand Duchy of Baden occupy the central field, consisting of a quartered shield displaying the diagonal stripe and semy of roundels of the House of Baden, surmounted by a large grand ducal crown. Two heraldic griffin supporters, each wearing a smaller crown, flank the shield on either side, resting on a decorative oak branch and acorn wreath at the base. The denomination ZWEI GULDEN is inscribed in two words across the upper field, with the date 1850 appearing in the exergue below the coat of arms. A toothed border frames the entire design. |
