Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Prince Carl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen in left-facing profile, rendered in finely detailed high relief with carefully engraved hair. The circumferential legend in Latin characters reads CARL ANTON FÜRST ZU HOHENZOLLERN SIGMARINGEN, separated by a small dot. The engraver's name BALBACH appears in small capitals beneath the truncation. The field is plain, and the coin exhibits a pronounced milled border.

The denomination ZWEI GULDEN arcs across the upper legend, while the date 1849 is positioned in the lower field beneath the shield. A fine milled border frames the entire design.
