Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King James II facing left, rendered in high relief with flowing long hair curling over the shoulder, characteristic of the Restoration portrait style. The effigy is boldly modelled, occupying the central field. The Latin legend encircles the bust, separated from the rim by a fine inner border. The portrait conveys a commanding regal presence consistent with the engraving style of John Roettier.
