Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style. The king's hair falls in long, flowing curls behind the neck, with a laurel wreath adorning the head. A fine border of beads (dentils) frames the design at the rim. The legend GEORGIVS · III · DEI · GRA · encircles the effigy, reading from the upper left to the right. The portrait is attributed to the engraver Richard Yeo and displays a confident, idealized treatment characteristic of mid-Georgian pattern coinage.
