| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate and draped young effigy of King George II facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair falling to the shoulder beneath the laurel wreath. The portrait, engraved by John Croker, conveys a youthful idealism characteristic of the early Hanoverian coinage style. The Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the field, separated from the effigy by a milled border. The truncation of the bust is unadorned, and the overall composition fills the flan with confident, Baroque authority. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A crowned quartered shield of arms occupies the centre of the reverse, bearing the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (a rampant lion), France (three fleurs-de-lis), Ireland (a harp), and Hanover (the escutcheon of the Holy Roman Empire as Arch Treasurer), all within an elaborate baroque cartouche of scrolled mantling. The royal crown surmounts the shield, its arches and orb finely rendered. The date is divided by the crown at the top of the shield, reading 17-38 on this example. The full Latin royal titulature legend encircles the design, separated by pellet stops, with coin alignment observed between obverse and reverse. |
