| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style. The king wears a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the nape, with flowing drapery fastened at the shoulder by a brooch. The engraver's initials 'T.W.' appear below the truncation, attributing the design to Thomas Wyon the Younger. The circular Latin legend reads GEORGIUS III D:G: BRITANNIARUM REX, disposed around the periphery. The field is flat and unadorned, with a finely toothed border encircling the entire obverse. |
