Obverse description Crowned quartered shield of arms of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, the dexter half bearing horizontal stripes alternating plain and dotted (representing the arms of Oldenburg), the sinister half displaying a Nordic cross on a lined field (representing the arms of Delmenhorst), the whole surmounted by a royal crown and flanked symmetrically by two outward-curving olive or laurel branches. The design is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the fields.

Reverse description The denomination and issuing authority are displayed in four horizontal lines across the plain field: the numeral '2' flanked by raised dots on the first line, 'GROTE' in large bold Roman capitals on the second line, the mint or territory abbreviation 'O·L·M·' with raised dot separators on the third line, and the date '1815' on the fourth line. The legend fills the flan in a bold, clean typographical arrangement without any border or wreath.
