Obverse description Central field displays the arms of Bremen: a key in pale on a plain shield, characteristic of the city's heraldic tradition. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a peripheral Latin legend reading MONE NO REIP BREMENSIS, an abbreviation for Moneta Nova Rei Publicae Bremensis (New Coin of the Republic of Bremen). The overall design is typical of the hammered coinage produced at the Bremen City Mint in the mid-seventeenth century, with irregular flan edges consistent with hand-struck production.
