| 正面铭文 | RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA ·1949· (Translation: Republic of Poland ·1949·) |
| 背面描述 | The large numeral '2' dominates the upper right portion of the field, with the denomination legend 'GROSZE' inscribed below it in capital letters. To the left, a stylised sprig of grain or foliage rises diagonally, its stem crossed by a small horizontal bar at the base, lending the composition an elegant, minimalist decorative character. The field is otherwise plain and unadorned. |

The 1949 Polish grosze series was struck as the newly consolidated Polish People's Republic overhauled its currency infrastructure under direct Soviet influence. The aluminium composition was not an aesthetic choice — postwar Poland faced severe metal shortages, and aluminium was among the few materials available in sufficient quantity for mass coinage. Similar aluminium issues appeared across the Eastern Bloc during the same period for identical reasons.
Production ran at the Warsaw Mint, which had been rebuilt after near-total destruction in 1944.
