Reverse description A flying angel is shown in dynamic pose, blowing a long trumpet and bearing a banner inscribed with the abbreviated legend referring to the Eternal Gospel. Above the angel, rays of divine light stream downward from the Tetragrammaton rendered in Hebrew characters (יהוה), symbolizing divine sanction of the Protestant faith. The composition reflects the baroque allegorical style common to German Reformation commemorative issues of the early eighteenth century.
