Obverse description Central field displays the quartered heraldic shield of Reinoud IV, incorporating the lion of Jülich, set within a six-lobed Gothic cusped frame (sexfoil). The shield is rendered in relief against a flat field, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in uncial Gothic lettering runs between two beaded borders, separated by a cross pattée at the commencement.

Reverse description A long-footed cross with extended shaft divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing a partial toponym referencing the mint town of Venray, reading (eerlo), (orst), (lsteren), and (obroek) in the respective corners. The cross terminals are plain and the design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in uncial Gothic lettering is contained between two beaded borders.
