| Obverse description | Central field features a long cross dividing the design into four quadrants, each containing a heraldic shield within a square frame; the upper-left and lower-right quadrants display the lozengy arms of Bavaria (bendy-lozengy pattern), while the upper-right and lower-left quadrants bear the lion rampant of Hainaut. A small heraldic ornament is visible at the center of the cross. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by the Latin legend in Gothic lettering reading the count's titles. The flan is irregular and characteristic of medieval hammered coinage. |
