Obverse description The heraldic lion of Brabant, shown sejant and facing left, surmounted by a crested great helm issuing from the top of the design within a beaded inner circle. The beast is rendered in bold Gothic style, with its forelegs raised and tail displayed. The place name BRABAT appears within a rectangular exergue at the bottom of the central field, separated from the lion by a horizontal bar. The surrounding circular legend reads ANTHONIVS DEI GRA DX BRABANTIE, running between the inner and outer beaded borders.
