Obverse description Central oval vignette of the Citadelle Laferrière (Citadelle Henri Christophe), the massive hilltop fortress in northern Haiti, set within an elaborate guilloche border. The denomination numeral '2' appears in large ornate script at left and right, with the issuer title 'BANQUE NATIONALE DE LA REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI' across the top and 'DEUX GOURDES' on a banner below the vignette. Three signature lines appear at the bottom, designated 'LE PRESIDENT', 'LE DIRECTEUR', and 'UN ADMINISTRATEUR', with the imprint of the American Bank Note Company at the foot.

Large ornate numeral '2' appears at left and right within intricate lathe-work panels. 'BANQUE NATIONALE DE LA REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI' is inscribed along the top arc, with 'DEUX GOURDES' on a panel below the central vignette, and a French-language legal tender clause filling the lower portion of the note.
