The Banque Nationale de la République d'Haïti during this period operated under a peculiar arrangement: the bank had been reorganized in 1935 under significant American influence following nearly two decades of U.S. occupation, which had ended only in 1934. These notes were issued almost immediately after Haitian authorities reclaimed nominal control of their financial institutions, yet production remained firmly with the American Bank Note Company — a continuity that reflects how little the practical mechanics of currency issuance actually changed at independence's restoration.
