| Reverse description | A complex heraldic composition filling the field, featuring a central oval shield bearing the three lions passant of Denmark, surrounded by eight additional escutcheons arranged in a cruciform pattern and representing the various kingdoms and territories claimed by the Danish Crown, including Norway, the Wends, and the Goths. The shields are surmounted by a royal crown at the top. The encircling Latin legend reads NORVE VANDAL GOTOR REX, completing the royal titulature of Christian IV. An outer beaded border frames the entire design. |

| Additional information |
Christian IV struck relatively few gold multiples during his long reign, and the 1608 2 Goldgulden sits in the period just before Denmark's costly involvement in the Thirty Years' War drained the royal treasury. The piece follows the Rhenish gulden standard rather than the Danish rigsdaler system — a deliberate choice that made the coin legible to German and Dutch merchants operating in Baltic trade.
Fr#36 survivors are rarely encountered outside major auction appearances.
