Reverse description A large imperial orb surmounted by a cross pattee occupies the central field, enclosed within a six-lobed Gothic arcade of quatrefoil arches, each lobe adorned with floral trefoil ornaments. The interstices between the arches are decorated with small crosslets and fleurs-de-lis, creating an elaborate Gothic decorative framework. The whole design is contained within a beaded border, with the encircling Latin legend AVREVS VRBIS ARGENTINAE NVMMVS — 'the golden coin of the city of Strasbourg' — running along the outer margin.
